Dr. T. S. Kler is a distinguished Indian cardiologist, honored with the Padma Bhushan award in 2005, known for pioneering electrophysiology in India. He has performed over 35,000 angioplasties and is recognized for performing the first implantation of devices like the ICD and CRT-P in India. Currently, he serves as the Chairman of the BLK-MAX Heart & Vascular Institute in Delhi and the Fortis Heart & Vascular Institute in Gurugram.
Key contributions and experience
Pioneering electrophysiology: He established the first electrophysiology department in India and was the first to perform HIS bundle pacing in the country in 2015.
Extensive procedures: Has a record of performing over 35,000 coronary, renal, carotid, and peripheral angioplasties.
Cardiac devices: He was the first in India to implant an ICD, CRT-P, and CRT-D. He has also been instrumental in starting cardiac device implantation programs in several countries in South Asia.
Academic contributions: Holds honorary professorships at Banaras Hindu University and O.P. Jindal University. He has trained over 300 doctors and authored about 150 articles in scientific journals.
Current roles: He is the Chairman and HOD of the BLK-MAX Heart & Vascular Institute at BLK-Max Super Speciality Hospital in Delhi and Chairman of the Fortis Heart & Vascular Institute at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram.
Awards and recognition: Received the Padma Bhushan in 2005 for his contributions to medicine. He is also a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) and the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
Education: He completed his MBBS from Medical College, Patiala, and his MD and DM in Cardiology from PGI Chandigarh.
