Dr. Ashok Kumar Vaid is a distinguished and internationally recognized Medical Oncologist with more than 41 years of clinical experience. He currently serves as Chairman of Medical Oncology, Hematology and Stem Cell Transplant at the Medanta Cancer Institute, Gurugram. He has played a pioneering role in establishing one of the largest private-sector stem cell transplant programmes in North India and has carried out the first 25 bone marrow transplants as part of his professional milestones. His areas of special interest include cancer genomics, immunotherapy guidance, precision onco-therapeutics, dendritic cell therapy, and stem cell transplantation. Dr. Vaid holds MBBS, MD in General Medicine and DM in Medical Oncology qualifications and has been actively involved in clinical research, serving as Principal Investigator in more than 40 international and national studies according to his current Medanta profile. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and contributes to oncology education as a postgraduate teacher and university examiner for super-specialty Medical Oncology programmes. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to medicine, he was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri by the President of India in 2009.
