Dr. Naresh Trehan is the Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta – The Medicity and is recognized for his significant contributions to cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery in India. He previously founded the Escorts Heart Institute and Research Centre and spent several years training and practising in the United States before returning to India.

With more than 51 years of experience, Dr. Trehan has performed over 48,000 open-heart surgeries and has extensive expertise in coronary artery bypass surgery, valve replacement, aneurysm surgery and advanced minimally invasive cardiac procedures. He has also contributed to the development of robotic and minimally invasive cardiac surgery.

Dr. Trehan has received major national recognition, including the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan. He has also served as President of the International Society for Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery and was appointed as the personal surgeon to the President of India in 1991.
