Dr. Pawan Rawal is a Senior Director in Gastroenterology at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram, with more than 18 years of experience in advanced Gastroenterology, Hepatology and therapeutic endoscopy. He has developed particular expertise in the management of complex pancreaticobiliary disorders, chronic liver diseases, intestinal disorders and gastrointestinal and liver cancers.

Dr. Rawal completed his MBBS from Pt. B.D. Sharma PGIMS, Rohtak, followed by his MD from GSVM Medical College, Kanpur, and DM in Gastroenterology from PGIMER, Chandigarh. His specialist training and subsequent clinical experience have enabled him to manage a broad spectrum of adult and paediatric gastrointestinal and liver disorders.

His areas of expertise include pancreaticobiliary disorders, chronic hepatitis B and C, chronic liver disease, stomach and intestinal disorders, GI and liver oncology, coeliac disease and paediatric hepatology. He also has advanced expertise in therapeutic endoscopy, particularly ERCP, EUS and third-space endoscopy.

Dr. Rawal has also made significant contributions to clinical research. He served as a Principal Investigator in clinical trials, including the Indian launch trial of Sofosbuvir, and has published extensively in peer-reviewed medical journals. His research contributions have received national and international recognition, including the Young Investigator Award at APPSPGHAN and a travel fellowship to the World Congress of Gastroenterology.

He is an active member of major professional gastroenterology and hepatology societies and has participated as invited faculty at national and international academic forums. His combination of clinical expertise, advanced endoscopic skills and research experience makes him a specialist in the management of complex gastrointestinal, pancreaticobiliary and liver conditions.
