Dr. Shyam B. Bansal is the Vice Chairman of the Institute of Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation at Medanta – The Medicity, Gurugram. He completed his specialist training in Nephrology at SGPGIMS, Lucknow, one of India's leading centres for nephrology and kidney transplantation.

Dr. Bansal established the Department of Nephrology at Medical College, Gwalior, in 2006 and subsequently worked as a consultant at Fortis Hospital, Noida. He joined Medanta in 2009 and played an important role in developing its Nephrology and Kidney Transplantation department into a leading centre.

He has extensive experience in kidney transplantation and has been involved in the care of more than 3,000 transplant recipients. His clinical and research interests include ABO-incompatible transplantation, steroid-free kidney transplantation, paired kidney exchange and transplant-related infectious diseases.

Dr. Bansal is also actively involved in medical education and coordinates the DNB teaching programme in Nephrology. He has published more than 100 research articles and several book chapters and has contributed to national and international research in nephrology and kidney transplantation.
